Longmont Flood Information Update 09/18/2013

Longmont Water is still safe drink and remained safe, even during the height of the flood. Please remember to turn off your sprinklers.

Longmont Fire Services - Longmont Fire continues to help pump water from flooded homes in Longmont. They have two types of pumps, one for homes with more than four (4) inches of flood water and one for homes with less than four (4) inches. Public Works and Natural Resources – PWNR has started road repairs and paving operations on several of our damaged roads. Our most significant road repair is in the Valley neighborhood near 9th Ave and Hayden Ct. Hayden Ct. has been completely reconstructed, the damaged pavement has been removed, repacked with road base and they are starting paving operations tomorrow (September 19th). This is great news for our residents in the Valley neighborhood.

This area can be accessed from Airport Rd (north or south), then travel east bound on 9th Ave.

Longmont Water - Longmont water has established two hydrant to hydrant water inter-connections to provide safe, fresh drinking water to the Left Hand Water District which supplies water to the tri-town area (Firestone, Frederick and Dacono).

Longmont Power & Communications - Longmont Power & Communications is providing broadband services to a Location within our service territory in order to assist the Town of Lyons with their recovery efforts.

  • Boston Rd (Roger Grove/ Fairgrounds area) between Hover Rd and Sunset is now open.
  • We have closed the call center. We are asking our community to call the necessary city department for future requests. These numbers are listed below.

Disaster Assistance Centers Open in Longmont and Weld County (Tri-towns)

Longmont Area - Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) is open. The DAC is located at 1250 S. Hover St. at the old Steve and Barry’s Store. The DAC is located on the west side of the mall near the north end. Agencies at the center include: FEMA, Workforce Boulder County, Boulder County Public Health, Boulder County Land Use, the OUR Center, and American Family Insurance. Three other non-profits are also on-site to assist with private home clean up: Convoy of Hope, Samaritans Purse, and the Southern Baptist Convention. The DAC is serving Longmont and communities west of Longmont (Lyons, Jamestown, Boulder County).

FEMA requires that all residents register http://www.disasterassistance.gov. You may do this at the DAC or you may do this prior to going to the DAC. If you are denied FEMA coverage initially, please READ THE ENTIRE LETTER, as it outlines the possibility that you need to supply insurance information in order to receive assistance.

For those in need of clean up kits, bottled water and other necessities assistance can be found at the DAC. Additional help may also be found at http://www.helpcoloradonow.org.

Weld County (Tri-towns ) - Weld County has opened a Recovery Assessment Center in south west Weld County. This team will be located in the Human Services Offices, 4209 CR 24 1/2 , Del Camino. They will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. tomorrow until further notice. Services include DHS, health, veterans, utilities, United Way, Red Cross and more.
