Longmont Flood Information Update 23:55PM 9/13/2013

As of about 8pm, 56 Colorado National Guard have been stationed with 28 Humvees at traffic control points throughout Longmont. Their current focus is to ensure the integrity of closed road barricades for safety and security but they are ready to serve the community in whatever capacity they are needed. Their presence frees up local emergency operations staff for other duties. They are expected to remain for 5 days.

The City of Longmont is asking residents and businesses to cease use of all irrigation systems and sprinklers in order to conserve water. This allows us to minimize runoff and to maximize our supply of fresh, treated water for our community's use or to share with other communites in case of emergencies.

We would like to remind all residents that while Lefthand Water District and the town of Lyons are under a notice to boil their water, City of Longmont customers are not.

A new road closure map and power outage map have been posted to www.longmontoem.org

Based on the notice that there is a Declaration of Emergency in the City of Longmont, the City is continuing to enact a curfew until 6am tomorrow morning in flood zones and evacuation areas. We are formally requesting that citizens comply with this curfew and remain indoors during these hours.
