Flood Fundraising in Longmont This Weekend (9/20 - 9/22)

While the Downtown Longmont community is deeply saddened by the loss and destruction that many in our community are facing, we are overwhelmed by those calling to assist, help, volunteer and give.

This weekend, there will be several ways for the community to gather, celebrate Longmont’s strength and donate to those in need in our community.

In partnership with the Longmont Community Foundation, donations can be made to the St. Vrain Flooding Relief Fund. 100% of the proceeds will go directly toward helping the community recover from the devastation of the recent flooding.

There will be several opportunities to give financial donations to our community members in need.

  • On Friday, September 20 from 6:30 – 9 p.m.  ArtWalk will still be held, although Main Street will still be open to vehicular traffic. Activities will be moved to 4th and 5th Avenues directly off of Main Street.  All participating businesses will have information on how to give and cash or checks can be contributed at the Longmont Community foundation/Longmont Downtown Development Authority booth at 4th and Main near Ziggi’s Coffee.
  • During Oktoberfest at Roosevelt Park on Friday and Saturday, September 20 – 21st, donations can be made to the Left Hand Brewing Foundation for Flood Relief 2013.
  • On Sunday, Fireball Run kicks off in downtown Longmont. Teams will be assisting in raising money for the flood relief in our community. Come help us send off the 40 teams at 8 a.m. on the corner of 5th and Main - participate in the Tiny Tim Center fun run or just come cheer on the participants.

The City of Longmont Building Inspection Division will have information available at the Disaster Recovery Center (DAC) about flood damage to homes and how to obtain a building permit to repair the damages, as well as permit applications. Please look for the table just inside the west entrance of the DAC to find the information.

In order to better serve the needs of the residents and contractors, we will be completing all permitting activities at the Development Services Center, 385 Kimbark St, Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm, where we have a full staff to assist in the process. We will be offering extended hours this Saturday, September 21, from 8am to 2pm, to help answer questions and assist homeowners and contractors in obtaining building permits for flood related damages.
